I remember last new years, I was hanging with an older cousin of mine (whom I used to look up to) towards the end of a party and we end up bonding over smoking a blunt. The guy starts talking to me about lizard people and I start laughing. I thought he was legitimately trying to be funny in telling me “I know you like science but there’s a lot of things we don’t know, there’s a lot of unexplained — therefore lizard people (that’s what it seemed like he was implying)” which was when the convo started getting scary for me since I knew where it was heading. I’m too hard-headed to tell myself “let it go, it’s his belief”. And I automatically start crapping on the lizard people theory faster than a physicist can say “photon”. It was terrible, I thought believers of that only lived in crappy conspiracy theory forums discussing the next apocalypse or ancient alien invasion.. yet here I had a sibling of mine trying to get me into believing that and it wasn’t a joke. At least the weed made it funnier, I couldn’t stop laughing when he mentioned “youtube” as a source.
